Huntingtower Castle

Built by the Ruthven family in the 15th century, Huntingtower Castle is located in Huntingtower, 3 miles (5km) north west of Perth, Perth and Kinross. Comprising two separate towers, the original Ruthven Castle was the eastern tower, the western tower being an early 16th century build. An infill building adjoining the two was built in the 17th century. Confiscated by the Crown in 1600 following the Gowrie Conspiracy, it was passed into the hands of the Murray family in 1663, who used this as their residence over Blair Castle.
